activ8 develops its applications entirely in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, AJAX, and a smidgeon of Python here and there. We believe in open source technologies, and we want to leverage them to our customers benefit.
These buzzwords and technobabble terms, put simply, help us write web based applications that bring fast, efficient, and user friendly processes to our customers quickly.
- Ruby on Rails: A rapid web application development platform that reduces the overall programming, planning, and data management cycle significantly.
- AJAX: Asynchronous JavaScript and XML - a technology suite that brings the web more user friendly interfaces and instant feedback on changes in the applications that use it.
- SOAP / XMPP: Distributed application process serving - splitting the hard work out from the user experience, and developing easily scaled application logic.
- JavaScript: Coupled with AJAX, JavaScript allows us to improve the user experience in our applications. We use standard libraries like Prototype, Script.aculo.us, and Rico to make your web application feel like a plain old desktop program.
- Python: One of the oldest and finest scripting languages around, Python lets us take the dirty work of cleaning data, backing up data, creating reports nightly, and other jobs too dirty to soil our Ruby code on.
